Arusha National Park Day Trip
Often overlooked by safari goers, Arusha National Park is a multi-faceted jewel offering the opportunity to explore an enticing diversity of habitats within a few hours. The park is the only place on the northern safari circuit where the acrobatic Black & white colobus monkey is easily seen. Rolling grassy hills encircle the tranquil beauty of the Momela Lakes, each having a different hue of green or blue. Its shallows are sometimes marked pink with thousands of Flamingos. The Waterbucks are common along the lakes’ watery fringes while on the grassy hills Giraffes glide past grazing herds of zebra, buffalo and warthog. Elephant sighting are uncommon in the park and lions are absent altogether thus leopards and the spotted hyena are primary predators. Birdlife in the park’s forest is prolific, with many forest species more easily seen here than elsewhere on the tourist route, Narina trogon and bar-tailed trogon are both possible highlights.
